INSTALLING APE ADJUSTABLE CAM SPROCKETS
CSAKH450

READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE REMOVING STOCK SPROCKETS FROM THE CAMS

When installing the adaptor on the camshaft, clean both the cam boss and the adaptor i.d. with acetone, etc. and coat the adaptor bore with red loctite.

Hold the cam securely when pressing the adaptor on. It is very easy to damage both the cam and adaptor.

After cams are degreed in, lock bolts to 14 ft. lbs. of torque. OVER TIGHTENING CAN DAMAGE ADAPTER OR BOLTS. Cam degreeing supplies are available from APE.

The OEM cam sprocket has two timing marks 180 degrees from each other as shown.

Lay a straight-edge across the OEM sprocket in line with the two timing marks and scribe a mark on the end of the cam as shown. All three marks should be in line (the two OEM timing marks and your scribed mark.)

Next, carefully press off the OEM sprocket.

The APE sprocket adapter has a single timing mark inscribed as shown. Carefully press the APE adapter onto the end of the cam so that the timing mark on the APE adapter lines up with the mark you scribed on the cam.

Bolt the APE sprocket onto the APE adapter. When the mounting bolts are in the center of the slot (as shown) the timing marks on the APE sprocket are aligned with placement of OEM timing marks. You can now adjust the cam in either direction from OEM.
